Convention Center Traffic Advisory

Posted on

Monday, November 26th, through approximately mid-January, Calliope Street river bound will be tapered down to one lane between South Peters and Convention Center Boulevard, which is expected to cause additional congestion.  Calliope Street river bound will remain open; however, motorists are advised to remain aware of the directional signs and consider alternate routes.

Motorists, visitors and residents in the area of St. Joseph and Diamond Streets should be advised that through the night of Monday of November 26 and into the early morning of Tuesday, November the 27, concrete will be poured, making for intermittent noise from trucks.

The construction is part of a $557 million improvement plan that includes converting Convention Center Boulevard into a lushly landscaped public park to be complete in the fall of 2020.  Current phase of the project is laying the new road bed, to be completed in the spring of 2019, that will consist of one lane in each direction.  When the road is complete, work will begin to construct the park.
